Thanks again to all of those who came and listened to me babble about Workflow for a while. Any feedback that you guys have for me would be great. You can contact me here. Feel free to contact me there anytime if you have any other questions about Workflow or WCF. I'd be happy to help.

So let's get this linkfest started. First here's my slide deck and samples:

The "CoffeeShop" sample is meant to be an example of all of the various forms of communication to and from a workflow, including:

  • Duplex Workflow (Workflow to Workflow) Communication over WCF
  • ExternalDataExchange communication from a workflow and to a host app and vice-versa
  • Plain ol' client - server from a WinForms app to a Workflow Service

I didn't get a lot of time to talk about all of the parts of the CoffeeShop demo, so I'll post a few articles here on my blog. Or you guys can just invite me back to talk more about something specific you'd like to learn about.

My first resource for learning any particular subject are blogs. My two favorite workflow-related blogs are:

Matt Winkler's Blog - He's an evangelist, but to hear him speak you'd swear he wrote Workflow Foundation himself.
Jon Flanders' Blog - Pluralsight trainer and resident expert.

Here are the links to the books I mentioned, with my brief comments:

"Essential Windows Workflow Foundation (Microsoft .NET Development Series)" (Dharma Shukla, Bob Schmidt)
As I mentioned in the talk, when you see a book in the "Essential" series, what you get is not really "Essential", but rather "Excessive". I happen to like excessive, so if you are one of those people that doesn't like to use a technology until you know how it works inside and out, this is the book for you.

"Microsoft Windows Workflow Foundation Step by Step (Pro Step By Step Developer)" (Kenn Scribner)
I usually pass by the "Step by Step" series from MS Press because they are a typically a little too rudimentary, but this book keeps on providing me with great how-tos on workflow.

"Pro WF: Windows Workflow in .NET 3.5 (Pro)" (Bruce Bukovics)
Of all of the workflow books on the market, this is the only one that I could find that has any mention of workflow services.

Thanks for the opportunity to talk to you guys. Keep me informed on your future endeavors with Workflow and WCF.
