D/FW Connected Systems Presentation August 13th
I will be speaking the D/FW Connected Systems User Group on August 13th. The topic I will present will be on implementing Windows Communication Foundation services with Windows Workflow Foundation.
Update: Thanks to all of you who attended. I hope you learned something. I'll post my samples as well as links to the various resources I mentioned this evening. I'll also provide deeper dives into various parts of the "Coffee Shop" sample I showed, so keep an eye out for that.
Here's the synopsis:
In the past, raising events and communicating from the outside into a running workflow was difficult to understand and to manage. With .NET 3.5, though, Microsoft has blurred the lines between Windows Communication Foundation and Workflow Foundation, giving you the same great homogenous communication model with workflow as you do a WCF service.
In this presentation you will learn:
- How to implement a WCF service declaratively, using WF
- How to create long-running operations that could span weeks, months, or years
- New bindings in WCF for use in and out of WF
- Tips to make sure your transition to .NET 4.0 WF is painless
Come for the learning, stay for the free food. This topic is something I'm very excited about, so I was quick to say "yes" when I was asked to speak.
