In my last article I told you that I've been learning Windows Communication Foundation.  I have a system for learning about technologies like this (a loose system, I'll give you).  My system has two steps:

  1. Read lots of articles that go over the basics of the technology
  2. Try and put together some samples that show me more about the performance metrics

I could read a book from cover to cover (and do often), but with emerging technologies you will find that there are few books available.  Plus, most books will not tell you much about the performance of the technology.  It's important to have a certain feel for it so that I'm aware of the impact on what I write.

For learning WCF, I read quite a few articles, but I wanted to recommend a three-part series on The Code Project that has a great conversational style and even better content.

Communication Options with WCF

I highly recommend it if you are just getting to know WCF.  Everything you need to get you started is there.
