Blogosphere as a Recruiting Tool
Of course the blogosphere is a tool to solve (insert boring corporate image issue here) issues for any company in a unique way. It has obviously worked for a lot of companies because more and more large corporations have signed up to jump on the bandwagon. This recent trend toward transparency has created a deeper understanding between a company and its customers. My recent discovery, however, is that...
Codesmith BuildProvider
I found a reference on Scott Watermasysk's blog about a project called " SubSonic " on CodePlex. I watched the video demo for the project and I was very impressed with quite a few things here. First off, the DAL that SubSonic generates is top notch. I think it's very flexible and a lot of programmers will like the flexibility that it provides. This is not what caught my eye, though...
Windows Vista Impressions
I hate to be a naysayer here and I know that my experiences are caused by my lack of updated hardware, but my Vista installation lasted an hour before I was formatting again. I am hopeful for the future, though. The features that did not crash long enough for me to see were impressive. One thing that I saw in the system that I was very interested in was the centrally located RSS Feed system that programmers...
Dream Job on Hold
Well, I was told my dream job would have to wait for a couple of weeks while the company does some internal restructuring. Patience is a virtue? I'll hold off writing about my interviews and experiences until I have something solid I can stand on. Until then, the suspense must continue.
Artificial Limitations
If you are going to target your website for a particular browser, please make the following considerations before doing so: Try to pick a browser that the majority of people use. If your target market is going to use Firefox primarily, target that. Try to make the experience as seamless as possible. Don't artificially limit people from reading your content - simply give them a dumbed down experience...
Almost there...
I'm downloading Windows Vista RC1. I'm just about ready to install it. I'm nervous but hopeful for the future.
I Don't Want a Job
I was very frustrated during my job search because the tools out there for finding a job didn't give me the information I was looking for. I am a career programmer. I love to code and I want to work for a company that loves people who code. So am I searching for a job ? No. I'm searching for a company I'd like to work for. I want to be happy , not rich . My ideal company has the following...
Hunter or the Prey
So I recently completed a job hunt. I have a lot of observations from this, my first official job hunt being a fully fledged computer science major. This is my first blog on the subject, of which there will be many. Today I want to talk about recruiters. I put my resume on Monster.com a few weeks ago on a Thursday. The next day I received 13 phone calls and around the same number of emails. I thought...
And we are back...
It's been a long, rough trip lately. I've gotten a degree and I started a somber project that I've invested time in: Downloading Dad . I've missed writing about other things, though, so I am going to reinvent "Anderson On..." and start from scratch. I'm forced into this position by the fact that I was in charge of my own hosting at home and my particular brand of hosting didn't have quite the backups...
